Dental care before and during pregnancy
Your cavity directly affects your child’s health. Read How……
After Marriage do not forget to get your teeth cleaned to remove
the tartar and plaque which may be the reason of your bad breath.
Before getting pregnant get your full mouth checked up, so as to
avoid any forthcoming dental pain, as you must be aware that a lot
of dental treatments are not possible during pregnancy and you may
have to bear the pain throughout your pregnancy due to unsuitable
conditions of strong medications.
During Pregnancy avoid taking antibiotics like Tetracyclines (which
make your child’s teeth black) or Chloramphenicol (which make
your child’s teeth yellow) and any strong pain killers except
crocin.
During Pregnancy gums usually bleed little more as compared to
other times if you have plaque and tartar which is not a good sign
and also causes bad breath and bad health for you and your child
in the womb.
So get a full mouth treatment done for cavities and bleeding gums
before getting pregnant especially if you have wisdom tooth pain
or any deep cavity pain. Get a root canal done or extraction of
wisdom tooth before pregnancy to avoid pain and eating antibiotics
during your nine months.

Remember cavity in your mouth directly affects your
baby when you are pregnant or when you are feeding your child…How?
Whatever you eat or drink passes through your mouth.
What is a cavity? It is a hole on the tooth which is filled with
decayed food particles and bacteria.
When food or water goes into your mouth it mixes with the cavity,
collects the bacteria and goes into the stomach from where your
baby gets nutrition to grow in the womb.
So, your sterilized mineral water passes through the contaminated
channel of cavity and goes to your baby and affects his/her health.
The same principle applies when you breast feed your baby.
Before pregnancy, see to it that you get all existing cavities
filled up to give your baby a healthy nutrition and healthy milk.
During pregnancy, as far as possible, avoid any extractions (removal
of teeth) especially during the first 3 months and the last 3 months.
Other dental treatments should only be done in case of an emergency,
that too in the 2nd trimester (middle 3 months) only.
If you are scared of dental treatment, and dental chair, you can
get your full mouth treatment done in just one sitting under conscious
sedation (sleeping condition) without pain and without getting admitted
in the hospital, just routinely in a dental clinic.
